Pokemon Cake

I am playing catch-up with my blog today.... I originally posted cakes to my blog and to a Facebook cake page (oh those likes are addictive!), but it got to be too time consuming, so I had been maintaining only the Facebook page.  I recently decided to delete my Facebook altogether.  I am finally posting the cakes that were on my Facebook page to my blog.  By the way.... life without Facebook is good!

Back to the cake... this is an 8-inch round decorated for a Pokemon Party.  It was frosted in buttercream and covered in red and white fondant, with a black band at the seam.  The name was hand-cut in letters similar to the Pokemon font.

Baby Shower Cupcakes

These were simply round-tip swirled cupcakes with a custom topper.  The toppers were made using a Fiskar scalloped punch that was approximately 1 3/4 inches across and orange and gray paper; a white 1 1/4 inch circle; and a mini elephant that was cut with a Martha Stewart punch I found on Amazon.  The elephant ear flaps are cut with this cutter, and I did not glue them down, which gives the toppers added dimension. The toppers are hot glued to a lollipop stick... the color paper is behind the stick, the white circle and elephant are in front, which gives it a 3-d effect.

Gender Reveal Cake

A gender reveal cake for a baby shower.  The inside of the cake was BLUE :)

Cupcake Dress

Cupcake cake dress.  I apologize.... I don't remember how many cupcakes went into this dress, I think it was 30.....  I used tip 1M for the rosette cupcakes and the bodice of the dress.  I used a large petal tip for the scalloped skirt.  The green sash is fondant, and the silver beads were plastic starnds.

Cupcakes!

Pale blue icing and fondant snowflakes for a winter dinner party

Santa Hats

Swirled Christmas Trees with fondant stars and sprinkles

Mystery Machine Cake

Mystery Machine Cake!  This was made like my other vehicle cakes, up on a block of stacked cakeboards cut to fit between the tires so the cake appears to sit on the wheels.  It is frosted in blue buttercream with fondant decorations, including a hand sculpted Scooby Doo head.  This is carved from 3 layers of cake, and is about 6" tall and 9" long and 5 inches wide.

Whisky Barrel Cake

A Maker's Mark themed whisky barrel groom's cake.  It is about 10" tall and 10" wide.  It is two tiers of cake, each on their own board.  The middle black band hides the seam where they meet.  It is frosted in buttercream and covered in marshmallow fondant.  The fondant for the barrel was gently carved  to look like wood planks, then painted with brown and black icing color mixed with vodka to add texture and sheen.  The red "wax" is red fondant.  The name was stenciled on with a custom made stencil made using "Old Rubber Stamp" font.  The circle portion of the logo was made to match the Maker's Mark logo... but has a "P" for their last name, and XV for '15... 2015.  This is a very heavy cake, so I placed 3 dowels through the entire height of it, and through the bottom board, to help hold it steady.
